Segel Update
On their first day of the trip,
Segel visited Carlsbad Caverns for their first stop. They were
surprised by how big it was and enjoyed it very much. From the caverns,
they were excited to be able to see Guadalupe peak (the highest point
in Texas). On the bus, many of the campers have enjoyed making
friendship bracelets to pass the time. The group participated in an
activity where they each chose a song which is meaningful to them
personally, and one of the counselors will be combining lyrics from each
camper's chosen song to one big song which they will sing together.
Everyone enjoyed this musical activity.
Last night, the group
camped for the first time and they had a blast. They gathered around a
campfire for a wonderful chicken stir fry dinner, which all of the
participants seemed to really enjoy. After dinner, one of the girls
brought out her guitar and the group had an impromptu song session.
Today,
the group visited White Sands and everyone stayed wonderfully
hydrated! The kids have been making some very funny comments, so the
group decided to create a journal with all of the funny things people
say. They cant wait to see what ends up in the book by the end of the
trip and they will enjoy remembering the moments and laughing together
all over again as they read back the funny comments. While on the bus,
the movie of choice today was Transformers since it was filmed at White
Sands! They are now on their way to their next location and looking
forward to all of their upcoming adventures!
