In late August, I accompanied Emery/Weiner’s 9th grade class to CYJ for our annual Shabbaton retreat. At the beginning of each year, Emery students spend a weekend with their grade-level peers, not only to connect and bond, but to set a tone for the school year ahead. This was our first time to take Emery students to CYJ and we were not disappointed!
Early on, CYJ staff made preparing for our retreat extremely easy. They worked with us to facilitate our every need for the weekend. There were many occasions where CYJ went above and beyond — for example, providing freshly made challah for our Shabbat dinner! I was equally impressed by the quality of the cabins and camp grounds in general. From the aquatic center, to the gaga courts, to the treehouse, and the Beit Ha’am, CYJ was perfectly suited our needs for the Shabbaton.
I sincerely hope Emery will be back at CYJ next year!
