CYJ’s 2020 Strategic Plan includes 4 areas of priority with 6 major initiatives.  Two of those initiatives are Teen Summer Programs and Year-Round Engagement.  We are excited to announce that we are moving forward with building our new Retreat Village. When complete, the Retreat Village will include seven modern buildings that will provide Camp with 40 new rooms.  Each room will have two queen beds, a desk, and a private bathroom and easily accommodate a family of four. Sleek landscaping, shade structures, and a campfire site will help create a community feel.  A new laundry room will replace the existing, worn-out facilities.  During the summer, the Retreat Village will be used for senior staff so that our existing facilities can be used to grow our teen program.  Year-round, the new facility becomes a tremendous asset to our Retreat Center by allowing us to recruit larger groups and giving us flexibility in hosting multiple groups at the same time.  Many of our sold-out family camps, for example, will ultimately be able to accommodate 40 more families.

The Retreat Village is designed around a community courtyard area.   Imagine that once all of the buildings are constructed, we can accommodate up to 160 more people at retreats, 72 more campers during a summer, and have room to hire additional summer staff.  The buildings are being built in a factory and will be delivered and installed on a perimeter foundation.  The roof and other areas will be finished at Camp and the buildings will look like any other traditionally constructed building.  We are continuing the design theme from our newest facility, the Experiential Learning Center.  All of the buildings will have a metal roofs, siding of stone and corrugated metal, and porches with a six-foot width to allow multiple rocking chairs for hanging out.

We have raised $955,000 so far toward its construction, which will allow us to build four of the buildings (22 rooms).  We hope to immediately raise another $250,000 to complete the laundry room and all of the landscaping needs before summer.  To finish out the project, we will need to raise an additional $600,000.  The Retreat Village will be a game changer for CYJ and we hope that you will make a commitment to helping us build it.
