CYJ is excited to announce our special guest for this year’s Women’s ReJEWventation Weekend, May 13-15: Rabbi-Cantor Robbi Sherwin! Check out her bio below:

Based in the “Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin, Texas’ “Rockin’ Rabbi-Cantor Robbi” Sherwin (known as “R-cubed”) grew up all over the US in small towns as an Air Force “brat,” which is probably responsible for her wanderlust today.  Robbi continues to travel constantly as a rabbi, cantor, composer, scholar-in-residence, performer and teacher, specializing in women’s retreats and congregational songwriting. She is one-third of the award-winning Jewish trio, Sababa, with bandmates Scott Leader (Phoenix) & Steve Brodsky (Denver.)  From Tulsa to Tel Aviv, Robbi’s spirited Jewish song-crafting and rock, pop, folk and “Jewgrass” song stylings are known for their accessibility, energy and memorable melodies – their music is published and performed and recorded around the world.

A product of CYJ herself (North Pacific Coast in California) she credits camp for making her the Jew she is today. Robbi is a founding member and co-rabbi of Congregation Kol Halev in Austin, and has served for 10 years as the Spiritual Leader of B’nai Butte Congregation in Crested Butte, Colorado, where she enjoys the “Rocky Mountain Chai-life” – connecting others to Judaism through “outside the bimah” Judaism. Services on skis, and hiking at 12,000 feet are just a part of her job!  A life member of Hadassah, Robbi was honored last year and she works with Hadassah in Israel, bringing music and hope to patients from all faiths and backgrounds. She loves finding ways to include all ages –  babies to Bubbies –  in owning and loving their Judaism.  She is particularly excited to be one of a handful of female Jewish rockers on Jewish Rock Radio.
