Updates and Upgrades

The minds behind CYJ are in love with camp, but that doesn’t mean they’ve stopped finding new ways to improve it! For those who haven’t been to camp in a while, here are some of the exciting things those ideas have turned into:

2016
Welcome to the Experiential Learning Center (ELC).

As part of our plans to make an even greener camp, this activity center is built using advanced environmental designs, with solar panels, water-harvesting capabilities, and a prairie roof!

Lovers of Icees, popcorn, and all things sweet—rejoice! CYJ has a brand-new canteen, full of the goodies that campers crave, (and likely the only one in Texas to deal exclusively in shekels!)

2015
11 & 12 Graders Return to their Home Away from Home.

Recent alumni are can reconnect where all the magic began with our 11 & 12 Grade Reunion Weekend, introduced in 2015.

2014
CYJ’s Program Kitchen is renamed “The Fisch House!”

Thanks to a generous gift from James Webb in memory of his late wife, Marcia Fisch Webb, CYJ’s program kitchen was renamed “The Fisch House” and expanded to improve our cooking and baking activities.

New Aidah is Added.

Due to the overwhelming demand for spots in our Ofarim bunk, the youngest of our three-week campers, CYJ has established a new aidah called Chalutzim (Pioneers) for 4th graders. Ofarim continues to welcome all three-week campers entering 3rd grade, while Chalutzim will now accept all three-week campers entering 4th grade.

2013
Women Get ReJEWvenated for their first time.

For the first time, we run our spiritual all-female getaway, the Women’s ReJEWvenation Weekend, with great success.

Welcome to Cabin 11.

In response to our rising rates of registration, this homey little residence is added to our cabin community.

Much Better Than Apples.

If we want to keep the doctor away, our brand new Health Center should help with that! Fully stocked with everything campers need to stay active, happy, and comfortable!

2012
Passover Camp is Set Free in the World.

A relaxing and fun way to spend the holiday with your family, CYJ introduces “Passover Camp”, a retreat

2011
Man Camp is Born.

Our much-loved getaway retreat for men, (called ‘Man Camp’, cleverly enough), runs for the first time. Manly joy was shared by all.
