Winter Family Camp

January 12-15, 2018

This winter, come out to the beautiful Texas Hill country for CYJ’s Winter Family Camp! A long weekend getaway for the entire family, this weekend is a great way to have fun and enjoy camp. Different from our November Family Camp, our WFC will focus on programming for families with older children, ages 8 and up.

The retreat is open to all Jewish families, including those with no previous relationship with CYJ. Newcomers to our camp network are welcome to come down and get a taste of what we do every summer. (You never know… your kids may even find they want to come back when school lets out!)

Participating families lodge together at night, and they spend the day enjoying programs geared towards the whole family’s participation. At select time periods, we will have exclusive activities planned for adults and kids separately. On Sunday, there will even be an optional outing in the Hill Country area.

Below are our FAQs. We can send you more information or you can contact us with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the accommodations like?

At CYJ Winter Family Camp, we provide two types of accommodations on a first-come, first-served basis.

Families can choose to stay in one of our 22 cabins. Each unit includes 8 bunk beds and a bathroom with 3 sinks, 2 toilets, and 2 showers. You can choose to stay in a private cabin with your family, or families can share cabins with each other for the full camp experience (and a discounted rate!).

Families can also choose to stay in our Lodge. The lodge accommodations offer single rooms and a private bathroom, each room furnished with 1 twin bed, 1 queen bed, and a sink.

Each room can host a family of 3. If you choose to stay in the lodge and you have a family with more than 3 members, we will reserve 2 rooms for you. If you have 3 or fewer family members coming to camp, we will reserve one room and potentially offer the suite’s second room to another family. (For a private bathroom, you may pay an additional fee to reserve the whole suite.)

What will the food be like?

Our guests always seem surprised at how good our “camp food” is. It’s true, we are a summer camp, but don’t think mystery meat and kool-aid—we run a year-round retreat business, after all! You’ll love our delicious, well-rounded meals, guaranteed kosher in our separate meat and dairy kitchens.

Can you tell me more about the religious practices of Family Camp?

We observe the laws of kashrut at Winter Family Camp, and maintain respect for Shabbat. All of Saturday’s activities will be Shabbat-friendly, but attendants can of course observe Shabbat to their own comfort level in the privacy of their rooms.

What is CYJ's retreat refund policy?
  • Cancellations made more than a month before the retreat date will be fully refunded, minus the non-refundable $25 registration fee per participant
  • Cancellations made less than a month before the retreat will receive a 50% refund
  • Cancellations the week prior to the event and no-shows are responsible for 100% of the retreat fees.
What is the cost of CYJ Family Camp?
  • $225 per Adult
  • $175 per teen (ages 15-17)
  • $150 per child (ages 6-14)
  • $75 per toddler (ages 3-5)

Children age 2 and under camp for free! And don’t forget— sharing a cabin with other families will reduce the weekend’s cost!
