Build your skills in Bonim while enjoying all the fun of camp!
You’ve graduated from our demanding Segel program, now we invite you to take the next step toward leadership and responsibility. CYJ Texas’ newest program, Bonim, is everything you already love about camp, but with more freedom, independence, and opportunity for growth. As part of our Bonim aidah, you will live in our exclusive Teen Village where you will have your own private lounge area and cook your own breakfast. By co-leading programs for our younger campers, you will hone your leadership skills and practice program development. As a group, you will choose your own Tikkun Olam focus and go on weekly volunteer outings in support of your service goals. At CYJ Texas, we always find ways to connect with Israel, and Bonim is no exception. We will learn about Israel as a technology leader and hear from Israeli entrepreneurs first-hand. The Bonim program is the perfect mix of fun and personal growth!
Three Pillars of Bonim
Hadracha – הדרכה
The group’s Leadership Training Program is designed for teens to use and improve their skills in a collaborative setting. They will be given opportunities to lead younger campers in programs such as Chofesh games, running the canteen, assisting Maccabiah captains, and hosting the Bogrim and Segel campers for weekly dinners.
MADIMOW – Making a Difference in My Own Way
Tikkun Olam – תיקון עולם
Bonim will be focusing on what we call “MADIMOW”—Making a Difference in My Own Way! Campers will walk away with a tangible sense of their ability to change the world, (with an opportunity to earn up to 20 community service hours while they do it!). They will participate in social action hands-on projects out of camp as well as reflect on the meaning of their volunteerism.
Chadashnut – חדשנות
Teens will explore Israel as a “start-up nation.” Environmental sustainability is an area of technology where Israel excels and one that our teens can see in action at camp. We also have amazing opportunities to visit with Israeli entrepreneurs in person.
Download our Bonim Flyer and share with other 10th and 11th graders that might be excited to take on these challenges and leadership opportunities.
